Enduro World Series at Northstar this Weekend

Enduro World Series Hits Northstar, California 8/24-8/25

TRUCKEE, Calif.—Aug. 20, 2019—This weekend the world of competitive mountain biking will descend upon Northstar, California. Presented by the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association (NLTRA), this Enduro World Series (EWS) event (the second to last of the year) will host 600 of the world's top mountain bikers. They will be put through 2 days of grueling competition, competition that will test, not only their endurance, but also their technical abilities.

Many will argue that California is the birthplace of mountain biking—America's fastest growing sport. Over the past decade, the popularity of the sport—one always guaranteed to empty the adrenal glands—has grown exponentially. Nowadays, it's more uncommon to see an automobile without a bike rack attached to its rear than not. Here at Northstar, we boast the largest lift-served mountain bike park in Tahoe, one that offers terrain for all skill levels, from novice to high-flying technical experts. With 52 trails, some of which reward the rider with jaw-dropping views of Lake Tahoe, you'll be hard-pressed to find a more welcoming, while at the same time, challenging bike park in Northern California.

Riders can take advantage of the Specialized Academy located within the Village at Northstar. There, those in search of instruction can take a private lesson to enhance their skills, while riders chomping at the bit for the latest gear can test drive the hottest products out on the market.

Of course, the best way to learn anything is through hands-on trial and error, but next to that, one can benefit greatly from watching the pros. This Saturday and Sunday at Northstar will showcase 600 of those pros, hailing from all over the world.

The EWS race format is specific and innovative in its three-pronged format. It combines the physical endurance of cross-country pedaling with the difficulty of challenging technical features, plus the hair-raising speed of downhill racing. Trail technicians have been hard at work here at Northstar Bike Park, preparing the terrain so that participating riders will face challenges and execute moves sure to pop the eyes of all in attendance.

Each day the competition will begin at 8 a.m. and finish at 5 p.m. and is open to all who wish to watch through the purchase of a lift ticket. Multi-day discounted tickets will be available. All attendees will be afforded a designated spectator area as well as access to a vendor village, both located at mid-mountain.

It is sure to be beautiful weather this weekend. Why not come to Northstar and take in a world-class sporting event? Even if mountain biking seems less than enticing, you can still take the gondola up to mid-mountain and hike (or ride) to the top of Northstar where, at 8,610 feet above sea level, fresh mountain air and breath-taking views of Lake Tahoe await your exploration.

Northstar truly has a path for everyone. Come visit us this weekend and discover Lake Tahoe's premier resort in all its beautiful summer majesty. You won't regret it.
