We know the Tahoe real estate market and are actively involved in the community. We have access to the latest Tahoe real estate information that helps us negotiate and get the very best for our clients, every time.
My wife, Hale, and I lived in four different ski resort towns before settling in Truckee to raise our family. Our kids are now living the childhood of our dreams, skiing every weekend in winter and sailing and camping on Lake Tahoe in summer. What an amazing place for children to grow up, and for a family to play together. I have to pinch myself sometimes when I look around to make sure it’s not a dream that I actually live here.
I arrived in Tahoe in 2001, at the beginning of the renaissance of the North Tahoe region. Working in real estate has been a very rewarding way to be involved in some of these changes. It provides a constant source of opportunities to meet fascinating people, to see beautiful homes, and to help families create meaningful traditions of enjoying all the wonders of our region.
I saw the opportunity to join my professional talents with those of Tori Long as the ultimate no-brainer. I have never met a more profoundly gifted real estate agent in my life and am honored to have opened a real estate office with her as my business partner. We elevate each other’s attributes, and we both have strong support from our respective families.
Our mission is for our business to be extremely well regarded for caring above all about our clients, our real estate colleagues and our team at Carr Long Real Estate.
I feel so fortunate to live, work and play in the Truckee -Tahoe area. Since 2002 I have had the privilege of helping over 200 families fulfill their dreams of owning in this wonderful mountain community and have met some of the most kind and generous people, many who have become dear friends and neighbors over the years.
I love that I am able to be an active participant in this beautiful area. Whether I am playing golf, skiing or simply taking a family stroll in my neighborhood, I am able to enjoy this special lifestyle. As an avid golfer, I decided in 2005 that Old Greenwood would be the ideal place to live and raise my family and have never looked back.
I believe this commitment to living and working in Truckee-Tahoe also helps my clients feel more confident in their decision to own in the area. My professional and personal experiences have ingrained within me a steadfast confidence and demonstrate my belief that the real estate in North Lake Tahoe is truly unique.
My respect for Don Carr’s abilities in the profession of real estate is unending. Don’s amazing ability to provide our clientele with supreme customer service, knowledge, expertise and repeatedly successful real estate negotiations continues to remind me of the amazing capabilities and talent Don brings to Carr Long Real Estate on an almost daily basis. It is with this deep respect for Don’s professional skills that I am so honored to be working with him. Ultimately, we bring a valuable and dynamic element to Carr Long Real Estate as we are motivated with an unbridled enthusiasm to perform in the North Lake Tahoe Real estate market.
I have been fully immersed in the world of Tahoe real estate since 2012. As a highly productive team member and agent at Carr Long Real Estate, I have played a major role in helping to establish the firm as one of the top brokerages in the Tahoe market. My approach to work is thoughtful and diligent, and I have helped many families smoothly navigate the process of buying or selling a property in Tahoe. My clients are always at the forefront of my mind, and I am fond of each relationship that has developed.
Life is full of chapters. The one chapter that has remained constant in our lives is our love for Lake Tahoe and Northstar. Our first introduction to Tahoe was hours after the big quake of 89 that took out the Bay Bridge in San Francisco. My husband and I were currently living in Little Rock, Arkansas and staying in San Francisco for a convention. We were riding a double decker tour bus just having completed a tour of the Muir Woods. We had circled down by the wharf and dropped several families off at the World Series game and had ventured back up to Market Street when the ground started shaking, glass shattering, concrete dropping from tops of buildings. Our thoughts at first were simple – let’s get out of here. We rented a car and headed for Tahoe. Love at first sight! Lightning can strike twice!
I first visited Lake Tahoe when I was in middle school, attending summer camp at the Presbyterian Conference Grounds in South Lake Tahoe. That was the beginning of my love of the Sierra—the mountains, lakes, streams, wildflowers, and seasons.
When I married David Brown in 1972, I moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to the Sierra, and I’ve lived at Northstar permanently since 1973! David was one of the first 5 real estate professionals hired by Fibreboard, the company that was the original developer of Northstar, so I’ve watched Northstar grow from a small, family-centered ski area into the world class resort and real estate development it is today.

Like many East Coast transplants, the decision to move west was an easy one after laying eyes on the Sierra for the first time. The transition would prove even easier coming from the long winters endured growing up in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. Prior to migrating, I had been living in New York City where I attended New York University. After ten years of many New York minutes I decided it was time for a change. I have now called Truckee home for about a decade and continue to find new aspects of this mountain lifestyle to enjoy with each year that passes. Whether it is the immediate connection to the outdoors, the community's natural proclivity for wellness, the quiet nights, or the clean mountain air, I would not trade this lifestyle for any alternative. In the wintertime I enjoy skiing as much as I can, and in the warmer months you will always find me running emphatically around the tennis courts and throughout the local mountain trails. I am proud to be the newest member of the Carr Long Real Estate team and look forward to helping others find their place here in Truckee.
I've been involved in real estate and land development for most of my life. Like father like daughter, I'm a second generation civil engineer turned real estate agent and investor. A career in civil engineering and years of managing family investments cultivated an appreciation for managing details, checklists, and timelines, as well as understanding the many nuances of real estate and development. Tahoe has been my playground since I was a teenager and where my husband and I have biked, skied, climbed, and flown paragliders down countless mountains and trails in the Sierra Nevada Range.
I arrived in Truckee in 1992 and I never left because Truckee’s beautiful, natural location touches my heart. I’m the eldest of 5 children of two doctors who raised us all in the SF Bay Area. Immediately after graduating from Cornell University, where I swam for the Cornell Swim Team and earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, I moved to Truckee to pursue my interest in marketing through positions with the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee/Donner Chambers of Commerce. At the same time, I attended night school at the University of Nevada to earn my MBA, completing studies in finance, investment analysis and venture capital.
Having been a Lake Tahoe Realtor since right out of college, I am proud to carry on a well-established family tradition in the real estate business. I was born and raised in North Lake Tahoe and take enormous pride in helping clients navigate the various lake shore, golf and ski communities that I have always called home.
I have had the immense good fortune of growing up and living where others choose to vacation. Gifted with a father in the Ski business, my family has called Vail, Colorado home for over 30 years. At the age of 5, my family took a hiatus from Colorado, as my father was recruited to help develop the Ski & Snowboard School at Northstar, and the Village at Northstar. I attended elementary school at Truckee Elementary, and truly learned to ski on the slopes of Northstar. I really came to love this area, the smell of the ponderosa pines, and the massive blizzards that bring feet of snow.
It’s a common story...I moved to Tahoe City 25 years ago, to ski for one season after college and then promptly forgot about leaving…
I came for the winters but I stay for the summers. I am very fortunate to call North Lake Tahoe & Truckee my home. I feel grateful to be raising a family here. My husband and I ski as much as possible and love living in paradise with our two daughters and two dogs. The Sierra Nevada Mountains and Lake Tahoe are truly a national treasure and the benefits of living here for over the years have enriched my life in so many ways. I love sharing my knowledge of the area and our unique real estate market with others. My passion is cultivating lifelong clients, who are interested in living an amazing Tahoe lifestyle. I enjoy getting to know people and helping them realize their real estate dreams. My approach is to make sure folks feel well advised and supported during the transaction from start to finish.
Growing up, I spent many summer vacations and winter weekends with my parents and siblings in Tahoe, always yearning to come back for more time in these mountains and crystal clear waters of Lake Tahoe. I was lucky enough to spend my full first winter in Tahoe in 1993, moving here full time in 1995 after graduating CU Boulder, and have called North Lake Tahoe and Truckee home ever since. After 5 years in the hospitality industry, I moved into Property Management, managing multiple Homeowner Associations – ranging from small condominium complexes to large luxury home communities. Learning the benefits and hindrances of various types of properties, Property Management proved to be an excellent jumping point for me to transition into Real Estate full time in 2005. I use my foundation in property management and customer service to provide clients with an experience driven by a strong work ethic, attention to detail, personal service and results.
Raised in Utah, I knew early on that I had a drive and passion for life that some people never know. I took those traits to the skating rink where I was recognized as 9thin the nation in the competitive figure skating world at age 13. I also fell in love with the mountains, climbing and snowboarding. My love for these sports kept me in Utah where I graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Marketing and met my future husband, Josh. In 2002, we moved to Truckee and fell in love with Tahoe life. Our mutual passion for the outdoors, sports and performance wear design enabled us to build a business representing the global lifestyle brand Oakley in Northern California/Northern Nevada and were recognized as 2002 Rookie of the Year Top Sales Performance in North America.
I take pride in being an honest, trustworthy agent who continuously goes the distance to exceed my clients' needs and expectations. I have been successful in the industry since I started in 2005 because I work hard, have a likable personality, and always have my clients' best interests in mind. I have found my niche in real estate, and thoroughly enjoy the entire process from start to finish. I embrace the fact that every transaction is unique and requires multiple layers of skill, persistence, and positive flow.
It is a familiar story amongst many locals, I originally moved to Tahoe to ski and… stayed. After earning a BA in Economics at Hobart College in Geneva, NY, I came to Lake Tahoe and found employment as a patroller with the Squaw Valley Professional Ski Patrol that first winter in 1976. In subsequent years I brought the idea of an avalanche rescue dog to the forefront and had the first canine on full time duty at a ski resort in the western United States. The off-season from skiing was spent working in construction, soon as a foreman overseeing and coordinating into the mid 1980’s the building of numerous fine custom homes in the area.
My Tahoe-story began when I arrived in Tahoe full-time in January 1988, after falling in love with the mountains and Lake Tahoe as a “weekend warrior” during my years in San Francisco. As is often the case with Tahoe residents, I was attracted to the area for the winters, but stayed because of the summers. My real estate career began in 1989 as a rental agent in Tahoe City for one of the largest property management firms. I quickly transitioned to real estate sales and have been an active, full-time real estate agent since 1990, listing and selling homes, condominiums, and vacant parcels from Tahoe’s west and north shores to Truckee, Incline Village and Reno. Most recently, my wife Trina Padden and I were owner/brokers of Padden Properties, a boutique real estate brokerage specializing in Northstar and North Lake Tahoe area properties.
After years of living in some of America’s most beautiful places including Maui, the US Virgin Islands, and Steamboat Springs, I finally settled in Tahoe and put down roots in 1986. I’ve been an avid skier, hiker, and yoga practitioner all my life and picked up mountain biking, and the aerial arts since coming to Tahoe. You can often find me performing at local venues. I began my real estate career in 1988 in Squaw Valley and spent many years in developer sales all around Lake Tahoe, both in California and Nevada, culminating at an exclusive property in Northstar. I’ve also had my real estate broker’s license in both states since 2001.
Tori Long is an exceptional realtor. Her listening skills, attention to detail and negotiating talent resulted in a second home purchase that was truly creative. As buyers, we were looking for an attractive investment in this distressed market and of course the seller wanted to feel good about the sale as well. Tori orchestrated a transaction with the seller carrying the paper for 3 years so he could yield interest income. We were then able to avoid a bank loan appraisal that would have made bank financing difficult. Now, five years later, we have paid off the 3 year contract, benefited from a higher appraisal than we would have had in 2009 and have a terrific bank loan. Tori Long deserves all the credit, This would not have happened without her creative negotiating expertise. Equally important, Tori is very pleasant to work with.
