Six Tesla superchargers were recently installed in downtown Truckee behind the Safeway Supermarket on Donner Pass Road. This is big news for Sacramento and bay area Tesla owners who enjoy regular trips to Tahoe. They can easily reach Tahoe from the Sacramento area charging stations, and now they can stop off for a quick charge in Truckee before heading back down the hill.

The superchargers are amazingly fast and provide a 50% battery charge in just 20 minutes. A 30-minute charge equates to a driving range of 170 miles. This means Tesla owners can get a great battery charge in the amount of time it takes to grab lunch or to do some quick shopping.

Strategically placed superchargers are gradually being installed across the country, and currently a Tesla owner can drive from coast to coast by stopping to charge their battery at supercharger stations along the way. Free to owners of a Tesla vehicle, a charge at a charging station sounds very appealing when compared to the cost of a tank of gas. Click here to see the current map of Tesla Supercharger locations.
