Life is Better in Truckee - First Fridays

Downtown Historic Row, Truckee, California Now that ski resorts are closed for the season and the snow is very scarce in Tahoe, everyone’s attention is turning to the warmer weather and summer activities. April was a magnificent month of sunny skies and warm temperatures, and as a result people have been out and about in Truckee enjoying the outdoors. This was very apparent Friday evening in downtown Truckee. This was the first Friday of the month, which means many of the downtown shops keep their doors open a few extra hours as part of the monthly First Friday event. Main Street was bustling with people enjoying the specials and the perfect weather. Participating shops offered free drinks and snacks to curious shoppers in the hopes of attracting them inside their doors. It certainly worked, and even though the sidewalks were full outside, the shops too were filled with patrons eager to check out the stores newest offerings. In the middle of downtown, a three-person band played live music and attracted a pretty large crowd. They had a very contagious upbeat sound and energy to their music, and it seemed like that was rubbing off on everyone within earshot. Smiles and laughter could be seen throughout downtown as everyone was thoroughly enjoying the fun atmosphere. Even though the First Friday event is held year round, it certainly seemed like this one was the start of something new and fresh. We certainly think it’s a sign that points to the beginning of a great summer season in Truckee and Lake Tahoe. First Friday Photos
