Truckee Thursdays, Downtown Truckee, California The weather's beautiful, the sun’s out and so are the people! The Town of Truckee puts on an event over summer called Truckee Thursdays, which as the name implies takes place each Thursday. The first two have come and gone, and both resulted in an awesome turn out of locals and area visitors alike. The event and its attendees support numerous local businesses, which produce any and all things from hand stitched clothing and handmade jewelry to natural locally made candles, as well as all kinds of artwork and local eats. Enjoy the live music and multiple food truck options while perusing the shops downtown on a pleasant Truckee evening. It's one of my favorite parts of summer and I know that's a shared opinion for many. The historic downtown Truckee section of Donner Pass Road is shut down and all the local vendors set up shop. Truckee Thursdays opens at 5pm and commences at 9pm. However, that doesn't mean the festivities end! Downtown restaurants are open to satisfy any leftover hunger and quench the thirst of all attendees. There are a myriad of amazing booths participating in the event. One of my favorite booths would have to be 'truckee love', a locally started clothing company with apparel including but not limited to sweatshirts, hats, t-shirts, tank tops, doggie sweatshirts, toddler t-shirts and onesies. All made with that good ol' Truckee love, hand drawn stencils and hand stitched on decor. Clothing items boast a hand cut out of Lake Tahoe and decal of your choice, whether it be a fabric heart placed in location of Truckee, or a star to represent the location of Northstar California. That's just one example of the amazing options available at the awesome 'truckee love' booth. Stop by for a personalized sweatshirt this Thursday! Another great booth is Taste of Tahoe. They create local and natural bath products, ranging from lotions to soaps to candles. Sierra Essentials is another really cool booth. They create all natural and plant based products ranging from candles to soap. My favorite scent was the Vanilla Clove soap. And if you do make it down, you absolutely MUST try a Pig Pop from the Full Belly Deli station! Mmm m m! This year Bike Valet at the Old Jail Museum will be offered by Truckee Donner Historical Society. Truckee-Tahoe Pet Lodge will also be offering Doggie Day Care until 8:30pm for those who want to enjoy Truckee Thursdays pup free!
