Truckee Thursdays – A Hometown Street Fair, Farmers Market & Artists Walk Downtown Historic Row, Truckee, California If you’ve never been to Truckee Thursdays you’re missing one of Tahoe’s great summer events right here in our hometown! What an entertaining place to meet up with friends, enjoy summer’s flawless weather, choose from unlimited cuisine options all the while rocking to the beats of Tahoe’s inspiring local bands! This special Truckee Street Fair is an old fashioned throw back to the street fairs you experienced as a kid, but with a modern twist. And don't worry, if you haven’t been to Truckee Thursdays yet this summer, this very special event is not a one-time summer occurrence. You’ll be able to visit the many artists, clothing vendors, non-profit organizations and restauranteurs each Thursday until August 23rd! Throughout your stroll, you’ll find a handful of talented artists along the way, including Andrew Bolam of the Bolam Gallery. This beloved young Truckee/Tahoe artist features wonderful local landscapes, Western explorations, wildlife and still lifes that are sure to please the most discerning collector. His wide array of subject matter is ideal for any luxurious mountain retreat. Next, you’ll stumble across fine clothing vendors such as Tahoemade, promoting “Lake Tahoe’s aura that can finally be worn.” Their hip and colorful loungewear line has become symbolic of Tahoe’s latest generation of fashion meets function. Stroll a little farther and you’ll find Dude Girl, offering “gear for athletic souls who like to play hard, get dirty, laugh, and share the joy of sport.” This colorful and creative line of active wear includes chic designs for cycling, yoga, running and outdoor lifestyle. Before you dive into the array of cuisine and Farmer’s Market finds, be sure not to overlook Sierra Essentials. Holly Redpath takes enormous pride in her work, and that pride shines through in her products. You won’t be able to get enough of her meticulously balanced scents. Holly is proud to feature mood enhancing products that are environmentally friendly & family safe. Holly’s lines feature soy candles, aroma spritzers, lotions and plush hand-crafted baby linens. Don't miss out on the local organic fruits, vegetables and fresh pies offered by the various vendors. It’s a good idea to stock up on these fresh produce items before you dive into your dinner of choice from one of Truckee’s favorite vendors. Finally you’ll be faced with decisions, decisions, decisions. Where should you fill your hungry belly after you have nearly shopped till you dropped? Full Belly Deli is a sure standout, “the boys and their deli teamsters have been serving up the freshest ingredients combined in ways mere mortals could never even dream featuring Dorito-encrusted chicken or a biscuits & gravy burrito.” The Red Truck features Pumpkin Samosas with Prickly Pear and Cilantro Chutneys. Maybe try a Red Truck Naanwich, with hummus, or try one of their Naan dogs, spicy dogs or sloppy dogs. We promise this savory burst will be worth the few minute wait. Oh and make sure to top off your savory meal with a Red Velvet Cupcake, Red Truck’s red velvet really is the best in Truckee! If you’re up for a little continued Truckee night life après Street Fair, pop into Uncorked for great wine tasting and delicious seasonal plates. “Uncorked Truckee enjoys a wonderful location on historic row in downtown Truckee, a unique locale for the newest Uncorked wine bar and wine shop. Uncorked Truckee showcases a large selection of limited production wines from around the world. Tastings and by-the-glass wines change daily.” While the choices are many, it’s simply not possible to make a bad one. And if you don’t get to try all the great things in one visit to Truckee Thursdays, there are still many Thursdays left this Summer for you to come back and enjoy an entirely new experience. See you in downtown Truckee! Posted by Tori Long Truckee Thursdays Photos
