The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, California The mission of the Boys and Girls Club is to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. This mission was very evident Sunday at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. The Ritz-Carlton and Kennedy Wilson hosted an après ski BBQ in the hotel in honor of The Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe. Children and their families gathered in one of the hotel ballrooms for an afternoon of fun activities and delicious food. On hand was a balloon artist who made unique balloon creations for the children in all shapes and sizes. From animals to motorcycles to creative headwear, the children carried these balloon creations with them throughout the afternoon. Also on hand for the event was a very talented face painter. The kids lined up to choose their design and have their faces painted with all sorts of fun images. The featured speaker at the event was skiing legend Billy Kidd. Former Olympian and world champion in alpine skiing, Mr. Kidd addressed the children and made it clear to them that they too could someday be Olympians. He referenced the Olympics currently taking place in Sochi, Russia, and told the children that several current Olympians are from Lake Tahoe. He encouraged the kids to dream big, strive to achieve lofty goals, and never give up no matter what. He showed off his ski gear as well as an impressive downhill video. What made the kids really go crazy was when he showed them his silver and gold medals and allowed the children to try them on. The children all waited their turn and proud parents snapped photos of their kids wearing big shiny medals. Smiles were on everyone’s faces throughout the room and the event was a huge success. The menu for the event featured ribs, chicken and other BBQ favorites from the hotel’s brand new Backyard Bar & BBQ. The food received rave reviews from attendees, and everyone left with appetites fully satisfied. The Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe expressed great gratitude for the generosity of The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe and Kennedy Wilson.
