An Afternoon Ride on The Donner Lake Rim Trail

Donner Lake Rim Trail, California On Friday I ventured out in the sunshine and heat for a ride on the Donner Lake Rim Trail with my husband, an avid mountain bike enthusiast. Our ride lasted two hours as we climbed about 1000 vertical feet above Donner Lake. Gorgeous wildflowers are now out in full bloom, so we had to stop every once in a while to snap a photo! We summited at a tiny pristine Lake known as Summit Lake, where we ran into some friendly hikers who had driven up for the day from Reno. My husband, who is more knowledgeable about the Trails of Truckee than I am, informed me that a section of our climb was a freshly cut trail and a brand new addition to the Donner Lake Rim Trail. Fortunately for all of us Truckee Residents, Measure R, which helps fund Truckee Trails, passed the ballot on June 3rd! It is always an adventure getting out onto our beautiful trail system and enjoying the excellent Tahoe weather and terrain. Donner Lake Rim Trail Photos
