A Family Vacation in the Village at Northstar

Northstar, California When I got back to work Monday morning after a week in Northstar my friend asked me my favorite part about vacation. I couldn’t tell if this was a trick question or not. One favorite thing about Northstar, is that even possible? Luckily she didn’t mind me talking her ear off about the perfect winter vacation for 15 minutes because I had a lot to tell her. My favorite part was time with my family. That was easy, it always is. But the location made it extra special. My brother lives in Truckee, and the rest of our family came from all over to spend a special week together at Northstar. The biggest surprise we received was waking up to an appearance from our oldest brother who made the trip all the way from Hong Kong. Eight adults and one child in the same house for a week can be tough, especially during a ski vacation where people are rarely on the same schedule throughout the day. Renting a townhome in Village Walk proved to be the best decision we could have made. The townhome afforded everyone the flexibility to come and go from the slopes as they pleased, and having the Village at Northstar just a few steps away was so convenient. Starbucks was a favorite spot in the morning for fresh coffee. There is nothing like stopping on your way to the gondola for a warm treat and a hot cup of coffee. During the afternoon Tacos Jalisco and Earthly Delights were our favorite lunch destinations but nothing tops the burger from the Ritz-Carlton at mid-mountain. Petra Wine Bar was the place to go for après ski appetizers and wine tasting. The quaint and cozy atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to unwind after a long day on the slopes. The Village offers fun for the entire family. My niece loved watching the ice skaters and the kids jumping on the bungy trampoline. She was fascinated with all the joyful laughter throughout the village and kids playing in the snow. The adults enjoyed the live music performances, the many great venues for shopping, and of course the complimentary s’mores served every afternoon. Can’t forget the incredible homemade Mexican hot cocoa from Chocolate Bar – easily the best I’ve ever tasted. Our great location was not just convenient for Northstar; the town of Truckee and the shores of Lake Tahoe were both only fifteen minutes away from Village Walk. We took full advantage of trips to the lake for sight seeing and trips to downtown Truckee for shopping and dining. We were lucky to have some fresh snow during our stay. In fact, we arrived late at night, and woke up on our first morning to at least 6 inches of fresh powder. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous, and the new snow made for great skiing conditions. Happy skiers make for a good vacation! Our family time in the townhome made for some of the best memories of the vacation. Home cooked breakfast around the dining room table was a great way to fuel up and get the day started. Guacamole with fresh California avocados was a crowd pleaser for the East Coasters, which would not have been possible without our great amenities at the townhome. Sitting around the fire in the great room was such a perfect way to relax in the evenings. The four bedrooms provided ample sleeping space for 8 adults and 1 child, and the private outdoor hot tub was just the icing on the cake. The entire family gave Village Walk a two thumbs up approval, and we will certainly make every effort possible to reserve a townhome in Village Walk for our next family vacation in Tahoe. Tahoe Exclusive Vacation Rentals made the process simple and their attention to detail is second to none. It’s not always easy pleasing 9 people, but this time our expectations were blown away.
