Donner Lake State Park, Truckee, California Summers in Tahoe are great for so many reasons. The plethora of outdoor activities and perfect weather makes staying indoors a very unappealing option. One of the best ways to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends is by taking a camping trip. Camping allows for a connection with nature in a way our daily lives rarely allow for. It also allows us to spend quality time with friends and family in a relaxed setting where modern distractions are kept to a minimum. We recently went on a camping trip to the Donner Lake State Park Campground. Just a short walk from the beautiful beaches of Donner Lake, this campground has everything you could ask for, and enjoys a beautiful forested setting. The convenience of this state park is like none other. It’s located just a short drive from downtown Truckee, however once you reach your designated campsite, civilization feels much further away than it actually is. Cooking dinner by the campfire and roasting marshmallows makes adults feel like kids again and the new-found freedom lets the kids feel older than their years. Evening swimming in Donner Lake was inspiring and rejuvenating and even sleeping in a tent for a few nights was a welcome break from the norm. A camping trip to Donner Lake gets our highest recommendation as a way to get out and enjoy the Tahoe/Truckee summers. It’s fun and relaxing all at the same time, and comes with the welcome benefit of a recharge for your batteries. Enjoy the pictures from our camping trip and don’t look further than Donner Lake for your next camping excursion. Camping Photosno images were found
