2016 Starts Off Strong

As you can see in the chart above, 2016 is off to a robust start in terms of real estate sales activity. Total sales volume in January and February of 2016 has greatly exceeded the sales volume for the same 2 months in any recent year.

The great snow conditions are certainly a factor as local ski resorts have had an amazing winter thus far. In a 4 day stretch two weekends ago, Northstar got 49 inches of snow! Last weekend another 2 feet of new snow fell at Northstar. With the great conditions we expect steady visitor traffic to continue through the season. This has been all positive for real estate sales, as the last few dry winters created some pent up demand in the region.

Extremely low interest rates are another factor making early 2016 a good time to buy real estate. Many people expected interest rates to rise through 2016, and they have started the year going in the opposite direction. As interest rates have dropped to start the year, buyers are taking advantage of the attractive rates which are well below 4%.

Early signs point to an active year for real estate sales in 2016. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if we can help with any of your real estate needs.
